Congratulations to YTA’s 2024 Gold Medalist in Voice, soprano Krista Renée Pape — now a Grammy Award nominee!
Pape was part of Lyric Opera of Kansas City’s cast of “The Shining,” which has been nominated for the 2025 Grammy for Best Opera Recording.
Pape, who specializes in contemporary music, graduated with a masters in vocal performance and pedagogy from the University of Houston. Additional competition and prizes were awarded from Metropolitan Opera Laffont National Council, National Society of Arts and Letters, MIOpera Vocal Competition, Lewisville Lake Symphony Vocal Competition, Pasadena Vocal Competition, PaMTNA Young Artist Performance in Voice, and the San Antonio Tuesday Musical Club Young Artists Competition.
In November, Pape sang as Sandman/Dew Fairy while covering Gretel in “Hänsel und Gretel” with Wichita Grand Opera.
She also performed at YTA’s recent kickoff party, Classical Cabaret, earlier this fall.
